Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function in the body when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. This is achieved through various methods and interventions including exercise and manual therapy, acupuncture, advice and education.
There are many areas of speciality within Physiotherapy which offer different approaches to treatment.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
This a branch which focuses on problems within the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, nerves and other soft tissues of the body.
Neurological Physiotherapy
This branch involves the treatment of people with movement and function disorders as a result of injury or disease of the brain, spinal cord and the broader neuromuscular system.
Acupuncture
This is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into specific points in the body. It is used in isolation as well as in combination therapy.
